Very Difficult night!

We did not get back to the room until a little after 7:00 night. When we arrived in the room Debbie was in excruciating pain. Her back was all noted up. During surgery they had to prop her in a certain position, after she came out of the surgery they wanted her to not move, they told her they needed to get another x-ray to be sure everything was in place before letting her move. For those who have had muscle spasms, or "Charley horses" think of what it would be like in the middle of your back and not being able to move to help reduce the pain.

Anyway, in the room I worked on rubbing her back for a while and applying pressure, the nurse gave her a muscle relaxer, and of course she was hitting the "pain button" on her pump.

The kids and my parents came over to see her for a short time around 7:30. I read books to the kids and Debbie did a very good job of acting like she was feeling better than she was. After the kids left Vicki helped rub her back and actually made it better. The nurse came in to do vitals, and found that her pulse ox was only 77 minimum is 90. So she started oxygen. Apparently the pain was so bad she could not take any deep breaths.

Vicki was an angel again and was able to stick around until late. I eventually was able to tuck Ded into bed and let her get some sleep. It had been a very difficult day!
