I am still waiting in this big room. It is now 5:00 p.m. Dr. Starke and I had a really nice talk. He helped answer some questions. First the surgery went fine. The new port will save her arms from being a pin cushion.
Tomorrow she will start Chemo. (Cindy he told me they will go slow :) no speedy doses to make her super sick.) If she responds to the chemo they will do more. Responding would be something like going from 100,000 cells down to 30,000 cells. If that happens she would have a lot less pain and be able to continue the good fight.
This is a strange cancer, first it is not supposed to go to the marrow, AND it is not supposed to respond to Chemo. So lets just pray that since it doesn't know it is not supposed to do one it will also follow with the other!
Dr. Starke is like Debbie, he hates to have cases that are not responding and that he can not help. He is a great man, say a prayer that he has a good weekend and that he is refreshed in body and spirit. He has two patients this week dealing with life threatening cancer. Not a good week for a Dr. that wants to fix people. I know there have been many nights when Debbie would come home after a particularly difficult case and she needed to be reminded she could not fix everything, it never stops her from trying. Dr. Starke is the same, he will not stop trying!
Pray also for the nurses and techs on the unit. They are doing a great job.
Thank you all for your continued love.
Andy

Andy: Take hold of the Promise in Ephesians 3:16-20 - see you soon.
I'm so thankful that our Lord knows the prayers of our hearts, because words are not coming readily. My heart hurts for all of you yet I see incredible strength coming from you. We, your friends, are supposed to be the ones supporting you during this time and yet I find your words and your blogging to be both comforting and healing to me. Thank you for your openness and your willingness to let us share in this process....please know that you, Debbie, Ryan, and Megan are being lifted up continuously in the prayers of our hearts.
Yours in God's love,
the Lawrences
Dr. Deb,
I'm so sorry to hear about the cancer and I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers. I dropped by to chat about cat problems last week and heard the news. I can only imagine what you must be going through but keep your faith in the Lord. From the comments I've seen looks like you have strong prayer coverage. You are very blessed in that respect.
Sure miss you at the clinic. God keep you and your family strong.
In Christ's love,
